Etymology: Greek, cerato, "horn," and Greek, caud, "tail." In reference to the unique horn-like crest on the neural spine of the naterior caudal vertebrae. The gender is feminine.

Etymology: Latin,antiqua, "old/ancient." Beinn one fo the earliest neosauropods, and the ontogenetic stage of the holotype.

Locality: Near Amrapar village, Khadir Uplift, Kachch Basin, Western India.

Horizon: Mouwana Variegated/Lower Flagstone Member, Kaladongar Formation.
