Genus: Comahuesaurus CARBALLIDO, SALGADO, POL, CANUDO, & GARRIDO, 2012
Etymology: In reference to Comahue, the region in North Patagonia, Argentina from where the new taxon was recovered. Comahue is a Mapuche word, which means place of abundance or prehaps 'where the water hunt' and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In honor of Anselmo Windhausen for his contribution to the geological knowledge of the Neuquen basin.

Locality: Northern slope of Cerro Aguada del Leon, 39°34'54.3"S, 70°05'18.8"W, La Picasa area, Sout Central Neuquen Province, Argentina.

Horizon: Lohan Cura Formation, Puesto Quiroga Member.
