Etymology: Latin, Iuticus (Related to the Jutes, who invaded the Isle of Wight during the 6th century) and Greek, sauros, "lizard": Luticus lizard.

Etymology: In reference to the Wealden Formation (at the time of Huene listed it as a formation and not a group).
