Genus: Leinkupal GALLINA, APESTEGUIA, HALUZA, & CANALE, 2014
Etymology: Mapudungun, the language of the Mapuchee Native South American nation
that inhabits northwestern Patagonia, Argentina, lein, "vanishing" and kupal,
"family"; in reference to the record of the last known representative of
the family Diplodocidae.
Species: laticauda GALLINA, APESTEGUIA, HALUZA, & CANALE, 2014
Etymology: Latin, lati (from latus), "wide," and Latin, cauda, "tail": in reference
to the broad tail evidenced by the lateral extension of the transverse processes
in proximal caudal vertebrae.
Holotype: MMCH-Pv 63-1
Locality: 40 km south of Picun Leufu town on the national route 237, southeastern Neuquen Province, Patagonia, Argentina.
Horizon: Bajada Colorado Formation.
