Genus: Lessemsaurus BONAPARTE, 1999
Etymology : In honor of Donald Lessem, founder of the Dinosaur Society, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Species: sauropoides BONAPARTE, 1999
Etymology: Sauropoides, comparable to sauropods due to the morphology of the vertebrae, thou it is a primitive sauropod.

Holotype: PVL. 4822-1

Locality: Paraje La Esquina (8 km west of Provinical Road 26, at 142 km mark), department Independencia, southeast La Rioja Province, Argentina.

Horizon: Los Colorados Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Norian Stage, Upper Late Triasisc Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Cervical neural arches 7?, 8?, dorsal neural arches 2, 3, 4, 7, 8.
