Etymology: In reference to the country where the specimen was found, Niger and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: Niger lizard.

Etymology: In honor of Philippe Taquet, whos expeditions (1965-1972) initiated large-scale Paleontological exploration in Niger.

Holotype: MNN CDF512

Locality: ‘niveau des Innocents’, 16°27’ latitude, 9°8’longitude, Gadoufaoua region, Niamey, Republic of Niger.

Horizon: Tiouraren Formation, Tegama Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian-Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Upper Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Partial articulated skeleton, includes a partial skull, neck, scapula, forelimbs and hind limbs.
