Etymology: Sesotho, pulane, "rain-maker/bringer"; in reference to the rain-soaded conditions uncer which the dinosaur was excavated, and Latin, -saura, "lizard", feminine ending.

Etymology: Greek, eo, "dawn" and Latin, collum, "neck"; in reference to the hypothesized function of the neck presaggin the suaropod condition in the new taxon.

Locality: Farm Spion Kop 932, Senekal District, Free State, South Africa.

Horizon: Upper Elliot Formation.
