Etymology: In reference to General Roca, Rio Negro Province, Patagonia, Argentina and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In honor of Juan Carlos Muñoz, director of the Paleontology Area of the "Carlos Ameghino" Museum in Cipolleti, for his long-term support of paleontological investigations in the region.

Locality: Salitral Moreno, 25 km from General Roca, Rio Negro Province, Patagonia, Argentina.

Horizon: Lower Member, Allen Formation, Lower Malargue Group.

Horizon: Allen Formation.

MPCN-PV-800: 12 cervical neural arch, indeterminate posterior cervical centrum and neural arch, neural arch of the second dorsal vertebra and a fragmentary ischium.
