Genus: Savannasaurus POROPAT, MANNION, UPCHURCH, HOCKNULL, KEAR, KUNDRAT, TISCHLER, SLOAN, SINAPIUS, ELLIOTT, & ELLIOTT, 2016
Etymology: Spanish (Taino), savana, "savanna," in reference to the countryside in which the specimen was found, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In honours of the Elliott family for thier ongoing contributions to Australian palaeontology.

Holotype: AODF (Australian Age of Dinosaurs Locality) 660 (Wade)

Locality: AODL 82, "Ho-Hum Site", Belmont Station, Winton, western Central Queensland State, Australia.

Horizon: Winton Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Cenomanian-early Turonian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Middle Cretaceous.

Material: 1 posterior cervical vertebra, several cervical ribs, 8 dorsal vertebrae, several dorsal ribs at least 4 coalasced sacral vertebrae with processes, at least 5 partial caudal vertebrae, fragmentary scapula, left coracoid, left and right sternal plates, incomplete left and right humeri, shattered ulna, left radius, right metacarpals I-V, left metacarpal IV, 2 manual phalanges, fragments of left and right ilia, left and right pubes and ischia (fused), left astragalus, right metatarsals III, and associated fragments.
