In reference to the Tataouine Governorate, Tunisia.

Etymology: In honor of Hannibal Barca (247-183 BC), Carthaginian military commander who marched an army including war elephans across Southern Europe.
Holotype: ONM DT 1-36
Locality: Jebel el Mra, southern Tunisia.
Horizon:Oum ed Diab Member, Ain el Guettar Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Early Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Late Early Cretaceous Epoch, Late Early Cretaceous.
Material: Sacrum, the five anteriormost caudal vertebrae, both ilia and both ischia.
