Etymology: Sanskrit, Uraga, "Snake or serpent," and Greek, sauros, "lizard."
In reference to the distinguished long neck of the family.

Etymology: In refrence to th eKalasin Province, northeastern Thailand, where the specimen was discovered.

Locality: Phu Noi Locality, Kalasin Province, 16.93298°N, 103.72327°E, Northeastern Thailand.
Horizon: Lower part of the Phu Kradung Formation, Korat Group.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Tithonian Stage, Malm Epoch, Latest Jurassic.
