Locality: In the vicinity of the village Huangchiatien, about 4 km NE of Lufeng city, Lufeng County, Yunnan Province, China.

Horizon: Dark Red Beds, Lower Lufeng Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Hettangian-Pliensbachian Stage, Middle Lias Epoch, Early Jurassic.

Material: Skull and lower jaws, 4 anterior cervicals, including the pro-atlas and atlas, anterior dorsal or at least last cervical, 8 posterior dorsals, sacrum and 8 caudal vertebrae, a few ribs and chevrons, left scapula, both sternals, humeri, left ulna and nearly complete manus, ilia, pubes, ischia, femora, tibia, fibulae, and tibiale, metatarsal II and metatarsal IV of the left side.

IVPP V54: A right premaxilla and lower jaw.

IVPP V47: A broken dorsal vertebra? right metacarpal II, a manus ungual, a right astragalus, right cunieforms III and IV, a proximal part of left metatarsals IV, 2 phalanges and 2 unguals.

Etymology: In honor of Professor Young, C. C., a distinguished paleontologist who was the first to study the dinosaurs from the Lufeng Basin and erected the family Yuannosauridae in 1942.
