Etymology: For Zigong municipality in Sichuan Province, China, near where the specimen was found, and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: “Zigong lizard”.

Species: fuxiensis HOU, ZHAO & CHU, 1976
Etymology: In reference to Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, China.

= Omeisaurus zigongensis ANONYMOUS vide TANIMOTO, 1988


Holotype: CV 02501 (ChM V 267)

Locality: Fuxin City, Wujiban, Zigong City, Sichuan (Szechwan) Province, China.

Horizon: Shangshaximiao Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Oxfordian Stage, Lower Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: Maxilla, teeth, dentary, baioccipital, dorsal vertebrae, pubis, ischium.
