Species: abakensis SERENO, WILSON, LARSSON, DUTHEIL & SUES, 1994
Etymology: In reference to Abaka, Niger, the Tuareg name for the area where the holotype was found, and Latin, ensis, "place."

Holotype: Temporally catalogued as UC OBA 1, The University of Chicago.

Locality: Abaka, Sahara, Niger, Africa.

Horizon: Tiouaren Formation?

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Hauterivian Stage, Upper Neocomian Subepoch-Barremian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Skull lacking most of mandibles and parts of snout and roof; cervical vertebrae; incomplete dorsal and caudal vertebrae series; ribs; pelvis; almost complete forelimbs; hindlimbs.

Note: Torvosauridae?
