Etymology: Greek, alektros, “unbedded, unmarried” and Greek, sauros “lizard”, unmated lizard.

Etymology: In honor of Everett Olsen.

Lectotype: AMNH FARB 6554

Locality: Third Asiatic Expedition field site 136, approximately 1 km south of Erhlien, Iren Dabasu, near Erenhot, Inner Mongolia (Nei Mongolia), China.

Horizon: Iren Dabasu Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Cenomanian Stage, Upper Gallic Subepoch, Lowermost Gulf Epoch, Middle Cretaceous.

Material: Right femur, tibia, fibula, astragalus, calcaneum, and complete pes, but lacking the distal tarsal elements, left metatarsals II, III, and IV, and the fragmentary distal foot of a pubis. Two manual unguals are tentatively included in the lectotype.
