Etymology: In honor of Sterling J. Nesbitt, a prominent North American palaeontologist, for his contribution and studies on silesaurs and Triassic archosaurs.
Holotype: CAPPA/FSM 9374
Locality: Pivetta site, 29°39'37"S, 53°25'51"W, between the municipalities of Restinga SEca and Sao Joao do Polesine, Rio Grande do Sull State, Brazil.
Horizon: Lower portion of Candelaria Sequence, Santana Maria Supersequence.
Biostratigraphy: Hyperodapedon Assemblage Zone.
Age: Middle to late Carnian Stage, Lower Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.
Material: Proxiomal portion of a right femur.
