Species: xyu ZHENG, JIN, XIE & DU, 2024
Etymology: In honor of Dr. Xing Xu (Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences), a distinguished dinosaurologist who contributed greatly to the study of dinosaurs from China, including the research of several tyrannosaurs: Guanlong, Dilong, and Yuturannus. Dr. Xing Xu has also been a greeat supporter of the paleontological research and science popularization work of the Zhejiang Museum of Natural History.
Holotype: ZHMNH M30360
Locality: Shahe Town, Nankang District, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, China.
Horizon: Nanxiong Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Maastrichtian Stage, Late Senonian Subepoch, Late Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.
Material: A nearly complete skull and partial disarticulated postcranial skeleton, including caudal vertebrae, right femur, tibia, and fibula, metatarsals, pedal phalanges, and a partial midshaft of the left tibia, fibula and metatarsals.
