Etymology: In honour of Xu Xin, for his exceptional and continuing contribution to our understanding of the evolution and biology of feathered dinosaurs.

Holotype: YFGP-T5198

Locality: Yaolugou, Jianchang County, Western Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Tiaojishan Formation.
