Genus: Australovenator HOCKNULL, WHITE, TISCHLER, COOK, CALLEJA, SLOAN & ELLIOTT, 2009
Etymology: Latin, austalis, "southern," in reference to the locality being in the Southern Hemisphere, Australia; and Latin, venator, "hunter": In reference to its carnivorous diet.

Species: wintonensis HOCKNULL, WHITE, TISCHLER, COOK, CALLEJA, SLOAN & ELLIOTT, 2009
Etymology: In reference to the township of Winton, Queensland State, Australia.

Holotype: AODF 604

Locality: AODL 85, "Matilda Site", Elderslie Station, approximately 60 km north-west of Winton, western Central Queensland State, Australia.

Horizon: Winton Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Latest Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: 9 isolated teeth, left dentary, right and left dorsal ribs and rib fragments, rightt and left gastralial ribs and fragments, partial right ilium, both ulnae, right radius, manus metacarpals, phalanges and unguals, right femur, both tibiae, rigth fibula, right astragalus, metatarsals, phalanges and unguals.

Note: New material from the type locality WHITE, COOK, HOCKNULL, SLAON, SINAPIUS & ELLIOTT, 2012: Left and right humeri, right radius, right radiale, right distal carpal 1, near complete right metacarpal 1, left manual phalanx II-1, left manual phalanx II-2, near complete left manual phalanx II-3 and a left manual phalanx III-3.

Note: New material from the holotype WHITE, BENSON, TISCHLER, HOCKNULL, COOK, BARNES, POROPAT, WOOLDRIDGE, SLOAN, SINAPLUS & ELLIOTT, 2013: Left fibula, left Metatarsal IV, left pedal phalanges I-2, II-1, III-3, III-4, IV-2, IV-3, and right pedal phalanges, II-2, and III-1. They also corrected the following; left pedal phalanx, IV-1, and right pedal phalanges I-2, II-3, III-2, III-3, IV-4 and IV-5.
