Genus: Berthasaura de SOUZA, SOARES, WEINSCHÜTZ, WILNER, LOPES, de ARAUJO & KELLNER, 2021
Etymology: In honor of the researcher Bertha Maria Julia Lutz (1894-1976) for her scientific contribution and social activity particularly regarding woman right in Brazil, combined with saura, feminine of Greek, saurus, "lizard."

Etymology: In honor of the first Brazlian empress, Maria Leopoldina (1797-1826), for her fundamental role in the independency of Brazil that next year (2022) will complete two centuries; and the samba school Impreatriz Leopoldinense, that in the 2018 carnival developed the theme "A Royal Night at the Museu Nacional" (Uma noite real no Museu Nacional) in commemoration of the bicentenary of the Museum. This was before the large fire of September 2018.

Locality: Cemiterio dos Pterossauros Quarry, from a rural road at Cruzeiro do Oeste Municipality, Parana State, Southern Brazil.

Horizon: Goio Ere Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian-Albian Stage, Early Gallic Subepoch, Late Early Cretacoeus Epoch, Late Early Cretaceous.

Material: Narly complete diarticulated skeleton, including a partial skull and lower jaw.
