Etymology: Chinese, changyu, "long feather" and Latin, raptor, "robber": refers to the predatory habits inferred for the holotype.

Etymology: In honor of Professor Yang Yandong, Chairman of the Bohai University (Liaoning Province, China), who provided the financial support to aquire the specimen.

Holotype: HC B016

Locality: Xijianchang, Jianchang County, liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Yixian Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Upper Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Skull and skeleton.

Note: Has feather impressions, possibly from the wing, mainly from the legs and tail.
