Etymology: In reference to Chilantai Salt Lake, Inner Mongolia and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Species: tashuikouensis HU, 1964
Etymology: In reference to Tashuikou, Inner Mongolia, near where the specimen was discovered.

Lectotype: IVPP 2884.1

Locality: Dashuigou, Alxa, Tashuikou, east side of Chilantai Salt Lake, 60 km north of Chilantai, Alanshan, Inner Mongolia (Nei Mongolia), China.

Horizon: Ulanhushi Formation, Dashuigou Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian-Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Upper Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Right humerus.
