Etymology: Citipati, from Sanskrit, citi, “funeral pyre” and Sanskrit, pati, “lord”, the lord of cemeteries in Tantric Buddhist tradition, typically depicted as a human skeleton.

Etymology: In honor of Halska Osmolska for her work on oviraptorids and other Mongolian theropod dinosaurs.

Locality: Ankylosaur flats, Ukhaa Tolgod, near the salt extraction settlement of Daus, northeastern Nemegt Basin, Gurvan Tes Somon, Ömnögov (South Gobi), Mongolia.

Horizon: Djadokhta Formation or the Barun Goyot Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Middle Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete skull and skeleton.

Note: Sitting over eggs.

Note: Has a furcula.
