Genus: Dracovenator YATES, 2005
Etymology: Latin, draco, "dragon" and Latin, venator, "hunter"; refres to
both its probable habitat of preying on prosauropod dinosaurs and its location
in teh foothills of the Drakensberg (Dutch; Dragon's Mountain) Range.
Species: regenti YATES, 2005
Etymology: In honor of the late Regent 'Lucas' Huma, Prof. Kitching's long-term
fied assistant and friend.
Holotype: BP/1/5243
Locality: Farm Upper Drumbo, Barkly East district, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa.
Horizon: Upper Elliot Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Hettangian-Lower Sinemurian Stage, Lower Lias Epoch, Early Jurassic.
Material: Both premaxillae, posterior section of the right maxilla, fragments of the right and left dentary, right angular, a parital right prearticular, the posterior end of the right mandibular ramus (in two pieces) and numerous unidentified fragment of bone.
