Etymology: “Erlian”, the larger geographical area that includes the type locality, Inner Mongolia, China and Greek, sauros, "lizard": Erlian lizard.

Species: bellamanus XU, ZHANG, SERENO, ZHAO, KUANG, HAN, & TAN, 2002
Etymology: Lagin, bellus, "beautiful" and Latin, manus, "hand": Beautiful hand.

Holotype: LH V 0002

Locality: Sanhangobi, Sunitezuoqi, 20 km southwst of Erlian City, Inner Mongolia (Nei Mongol), China.

Horizon: Iren Dabasu Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Cenomanian Stage, Upper Gallic Subepoch, Lowermost Gulf Epoch, Middle Cretaceous.

Material: 5 vertebrae (2 cervical, anterior dorsal, 2 caudal), left forelimb lacking the carpus, partial right ilium and fragments of the ischium and pubis, right femur, both tibiae, right fibula, and some partial metatarsals.

Note: Of a Therizinosaur. Possible yolk remains and dermestid beetle frags.
