Etymology: The genus combines "Gondwana" with the Ancient Greek, anax, "king, lord," In reference to the dominance of dinosaurmorphs in the subsequent moments of the Mesozoic Era.

Species: paraisensis MÜLLER, 2024
Etymology: IN reference to Paraiso do Sul, Brazil, the municipaliyt where the "Linha Varzea 2" site is located.

Holotype: CAPPA/UFSM 0417

Locality:Linha Varzea 2 (= Becker) site, 29°43'03"S, 53°09'07"W, Paraiso do sul Municipaliyt, rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.

Horizon: Pinheiros-Chinqua Sequence, Santa Maria Supersequence.

Biostratigraphy: "Dinodontosaurus Assemblage Zone.

Age: Ladinian Stage, Late Mid Triassic Epoch, Late Middle Triassic-Early Carnian Stage, Early Late Triassic Epoch, Early Late Triassic.

Material: Complete right femur.

Referred material:

CAPPA/UFSM 0416: A partially articulated segement containing dorsal, sacral and caudal vertebrae plus a right ilium and both ischia.

CAPPA/UFSM 0418: 2 articulated cervical vertebrae.

CAPPA/UFSM 0419: Isolated dorsal vertebra.

CAPPA/UFSM 0420, 0421: 2 isolated caudal vertebrae.
