Genus: Heyuannia LU, (2002) 2003
Etymology: In reference to the type locality of Heyuan, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, China.

Etymology: Mongolian, ajanc, "traveler" + Ingenia; derived from the Ingen Khoboor Depression, Bayankhongor Province, Mongolia, with reference to the enlarged "thumb" on the manus (reminsicent of the "thumbs up" hitchhiking gesture).

Etymology: For Ingel, Mongolia, near where the fossil was found.

Species: huangi LU, (2002) 2003
Etymology: In honor of Dong Huang, the director of Heyuan Museum, who made great contributions I the excavation and preservation of the specimens.

Holotype: HYMV1-1

Locality: A quarry at Huangsha Village, N23°46'18.2", E114°43'29.6", Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, China.

Locality: Zhutian Formation (orginally stated at the Dalangshan Formation.)

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Santonian Stage, Senonian Subepoch,to? Early Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Note: Orginally stated as Maastrichtian Stage, uppermost Senonian Subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: An incomplete skull and nearly complete skeleton missing distal end of tail and forelimbs.

HYMV1-2: A complete furcula, articulated with an incomplete coracoid, right scapula and nearly complete forelimb.

HYMV1-3: Partial right manus.

HYMV1-4: Partial hind limb.

HYMV1-5: A nearly complete left manus.

HYMV1-6: Incomplete furcula, proximal ends of left humerus, coracoid and scapula, right coracoid, right humerus, partial ulna and radius, 10 distal caudal vertebrae on one block, and gastralia, partial proximal femur and tibia, distal scapula, partial skull, and lower jaw fragment from another block.

HYMV1-7: First manual digit and distal tail.

HYMV2-1: Nearly complete right distal front limb.

HYMV2-2: Parts of ulna, radius and humerus.

HYMV2-3: Femur and tibia, fibula.

HYMV2-4: Pectoral girdle.

HYMV2-5: Partial hind limb and pelvic girdle.

Etymology: In honor of Aleksandr Leonidovich Yanshin (1911-1999), who was adviser and mentor to Barbsold during his time at the Paleontological Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Material: Fragmentary skull, and fragmentary skeleton.

Note: Has furcula.
