Etymology: From the indigenous Mapuche language, ilo, “flesh”, and kelesio, “lizard”, a flesh-eating reptile.

Species: aguadagrandensis CORIA & SALGADO, (1998) 2000
Etymology: In reference to Aguada Grande, Neuquen Province, Argentina, where the specimen was found.

Holotype: PVPH-35

Locality: Aguada Grande, 15 km southern Plaza Huincul City, Neuquen Province, Argentina.

Horizon: Huincul Formation, Middle Rio Limay Subgroup, Lower Neuquen Group.
(Was Huincul Member, Rio Limay Formation).

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Limayan Tetrapoda Assemblage, Cenomanian Stage, Uppermiddle Gallic Subepoch, Lowermost Gulf Epoch, Late Early or Middle Cretaceous-Turonian Stage, Uppermost Gallic Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Early Late Cretaceous.

Material: Right postorbital, right quadrate, occipital condyle, 3rd? cervical vertebra, partially preserved 4th? Cervical vertebra, posterior dorsal vertebra, 5 articulated mid caudal vertebrae, 3 fragmentary cervical ribs, 8 proximal haemal arches, 8 preungual phalanges, and 2 ungual phalanges.
