Etymology: Jiangxi refers to the Chinese administratie unit of Jiangxi Province of southern China, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Species: ganzhouensis WEI, PU, XU, LIU, & LÜ, 2013
Etymology: In reference to Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, Southern China, where the holotype was found.

Holotype: HGM41HIII0421

Locality: Longling, Nankang of Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, Southern China.

Horizon: Nanxiong Fromation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, Uppermost Senonian Subepoch, Uppermost Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: A partial skull, including lower jaw, 8 cervical, 3 dorsal and 9 caudal vertebrae, 2 chevrons, a nearly complete pectoral girdle, and left fore limb, both sternal plates, and 4 and 9 sternal and dorsal ribs respectively, the pelvic girdle is only partialy preserved, while the distal portion of the tail and both hind limb are missing.
