Etymology: Greek, lagos, "rabbit" and Greek, erpeton, "reptile."

Etymology: In reference to Los Chanares Formation.

Holotype: Museo de Paleontologia, Universidad Provincal de La Rioja, la Rioja, PULR 06 (formerly La Plata Museum no. 64-XI-14-10)

Locality: Approximaely 4 kilometers east of the Los Chanares locality, exposures on teh northern flank of teh north brancy of the Chanares River,  about 4 1/2 miles east of the mouth of Rio Chanares, La Rioja Province, Argentina.

Horizon: Los Chanares Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Ladinian Stage, Upper Mid Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Both hind legs, fragmentary humerus, articulated radius and ulna.

Referred material:

Locality: Los Chanares, Department of Lavalle, La Rioja Province, Argentina.

Horizon: Los Chanares Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Ladinian Stage, Upper Mid Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material:

PVL 4619: Pelvis, 2 sacral vertebrae, femur, tibia, fibula, astragalus and calcainum, 4 metatarsals, phalanges and unguals.

PVL 4625: Dorsal and sacral vertebrae, 9 caudals, partial pelvis, femur and proximal portion of a tibia.

Number?: Both femora, fibula, partial fibula, partial tibia, right ilium, dorsal vertebrae and sacrals.

MCZ 3691: Slab with gomphodonts.

Number: Not given: Two pairs of slender tibiae and fibulae.

MCZ 4121: Right femur, left femur missing distal end, fibula, partial fibula, partial tibia, right ilium, 3 dorsal and 2 sacral vertebrae.

Note: Found in a block with the type of Lewisuchus admixtus.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Ladinian Stage, Upper Mid Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Complete left leg, 2 sacrals, ribs, and caudals.
