Etymology: In reference to the type locality in Linhe, Nei Mongol, China and Latin, raptor, "robber, theif", common ending for carnivoris dinosaurs.

Species: exquisitus XU, CHOINIERE, PITTMAN, TAN, XIAO, LI, TAN, CLARKE, NORELL, HONE & SULLIVAN, 2010
Etymology: Latin, exquisitus, "exquisite"; refers to the exceptional preservation of the holotype specimen.

Holotype: IVPP V 16923

Locality: "The Gate", Bayan Mandahu, Nei Mongol (Inner Mongolia), China.

Horizon: Wuiansuhai Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Skull and early complete skeleton.
