Etymology: In reference to the area the specimen was found, Lourinha, Portugal, and Greek, sauros, “Lizard”: Lourinha lizard.

Species: antunesi MATEUS, 1998
Etymology: In honor of Professor Miguel Telles Antunes, a Portuguese paleontologist.

Holotype: ML370

Locality: Peralta, about 75 km northwest of Lisbon, near Lourinha, UTM coordinates: MD707443, Estremadura Province, Portugal.

Age: Upper Kimmeridgian/Tithonian Stage, Middle-Upper Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: 6 cervical vertebrae with 6 ribs, 5 dorsal vertebrae with ribs, 5 sacral vertebrae, 14 caudal vertebrae with 8 chevrons, ilia, parts of both pubes and fibula, left femur without tibial and fibular condyles, the proximal end of right femur, the proximal end of one metatarsus (?) and 32 gastroliths.
