Etymology: Greek, megas, "big" and Latin, raptor, "robber, theif."

Etymology: Mapuche, namun, "foot" and Mapuche, huaiqui, "lance" (Moesbach et al., 1993), Mapuche Indian names referring to the enormous and sharp pedal ungual.

Age: Neuquenian Tetrapoda Assemblage, Upper Turonian or Coniacian Stage, Lower Senonian Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Early Late Cretaceous.

Material: Right ulna, left manual phalanx 1.I, distal half of right metatarsal III, ungual phalanx of digit II of the right pes.

Material:

MUCPv 341: Right ulna, radius, and manus found in articulation. From the same stratigraphic level, but far from the forelimb 3 meters to the W, were recovered an articulated left scapulocoracoid, a right pubis, a cervical vertebra, 2 anterior caudal vertebrae fused with one haemal arch, and 2 isolated hemal arches, and far from the forelimb 3.5 km to the E, a right metatarsal IV.

Locality: Baal Quarry, north shore of the Barreales Lake, 15 km from Anelo, 38°32'44"S, 68°51'34"W, Neuquen Province, NW Patagonia, Argentina.

Horizon: Portezuelo Formation, Neuquen Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Neuquenian Tetrapoda Assemblage, Upper Turonian or Coniacian Stage, Lower Senonian Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Early Late Cretaceous.

Material:

MUCPv 595: Premaxilla and maxillae with some teeth, nasals, frontal, and partial braincase, articulated sequence of 9 cervicals (including axis), and dorsals 1-8 (with most of thier articulated ribs), dorsals 10-12, sacrals 3-5, plus four isolated proximal caudals, most of the gastral basket , both scapulae, left coracoid, both humerii, and both partial pubes.
