Etymology: Latin, nato, "swim" and Latin, venator, "hunter." In reference to the hypothesized swimming behaviour and piscivorous diet of the new taxon.

Etymology: Greek, polys, "many" and Greek, odous, "tooth." In reference to the unusually many teeth.

Locality: Hermiin Tsav (Khemeen Tsav), Nemegt Basin, Ömnögov (South Gobi), Mongolia.

Horizon: Baruunygot Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Fragmentary skull and mandible, and fragmentary skeleton.
