Etymology: Nyasa, from Lake Nyasa, Ruhuhu Basin, Tanzania, near the type locality, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In honor of Francis Rex Parrington, collector of the holotype.

Age: Late Anisian Stage, Lower Mid Triassic Epoch, Middle Triassic.

Material: Right humerus, three partial presacral vertebrae and three sacral vertebrate.
