Etymology: Greek, pro, "before" and Ceratosaurus: Before Ceratosaurus.

Species: bradleyi (WOODWARD, 1910) HUENE, 1926
Etymology: In honor of F. Lewis Bradley, who found the specimen.
= Megalosaurus bradleyi WOODWARD, 1910

Holotype: BMNH R4860

Locality: Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, England.

Horizon: White Limestone, (Great Oolite).

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Bathonian Stage, Middle Dogger Epoch, Middle Jurassic.

Material: Skull missing the skull roof and dentary.
