Etymolgoy: Greek, serikos, "silk", in reference to the body is almost covered with plumlaceous-like feathers, and Greek, ornis, "bird."

Etymology: In honor of Sun Ge, for his contribution to our knowledge of Jurassic and Cretaceous ecosystems.

Holotype: PMOL-AB00200

Locality: Daxishan Village, Linglongt, Jianchang County, Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Tiaojishan Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Oxfordian Stage, Lower Malm Epoch, Early Late Jurassic.

Material: Nearl complete articulated skeleton with associated integumentary structures preserved on a slab.
