Etymology: In reference to the ancient city of Sigilmasa, former capital of
the Tafilalt and a former center of commerce in the western Sahara, and Greek,
sauros, “lizard”: Sigilmasa lizard.
Species: brevicollis RUSSELL, 1996
Etymology: Latin, brevis, "short" and Latin, collum, "neck": The species name alludes to the shortness of the cervical vertebrae.

Locality: Kem Kem area (‘Gres rouges infracenomaniens’), probably close to the town of Touaz, Tafilalt, Morocco.
Horizon: Ifezouane or Aoufous Formation.
