Genus: Skorpiovenator CANALE, SCANFERLA, AGNOLIN & NOVAS, 2009
Etymology: Latin, skorpios, "scorpion" and Latin, venator, "hunter"; because of the abundance of living scorpions moving around the excavation.

Species: bustingorryi CANALE, SCANFERLA, AGNOLIN & NOVAS, 2009
Etymology: In honor of the late Manuel Bustingory, owner of the farm where the specimen was excavated.

Holotype: MMCH-PV 48

Locality: Bustingorry's farm, 3 km NW of Villa El Chocon, Neuquen Province, Northwest Patagonia, Argentina.

Horizon: Lower levels of the Huincul Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Upper Cenomanian, Upper Gallic subepoch, Lowest Gulf Epoch, Late Early to Early Middle Cretaceous-Turonian Stage, Uppermost Gallic Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete skull and skeleton lacking pectorial girdles (except right ulna), midsection of tail to tip (except 3 distal caudals), cheverons (except one), and left metatarsals.
