Etymology: Chinese, Suzhou; ancient name of the Jiuquan area, Kansu Province, China, where the specimen
was found and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In reference to "Megatherium", genus of giant ground sloth
and Greek, -oides, 'like'.
Holotype: FRDC-GSJB-99
Locality: Yujingzi Basin, northwestern Kansu (Gansu) Province, China.
Horizon: Xinminpu (= "Xinminbao") Group.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Aptian-Albian Stage, middle Gallic subepoch, lower Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
Material: An associated partial postcranial skeleton including 10 partial to nearly complete dorsal vertebrae, incomplete dorsal ris, nearly complete right scapulocoracoid, complete right humerus, ?Pubic penduncle of the left ilium, largely complete left and fragmentary right pubes, and several unidentified bones.

FRDC-GSJB-2004-001: 3 dorsal vertebrae, sacrum, first 6 caudal vertebrae, 7 dorsal ribs, 6 chevrons, almost complete left half of pelvic girdle, almost complete left femur, and distal end of right femur.
