Etymology: Greek, chelone, "turtle" and Greek, form, "shape"; in reference to this dinosaur being a turtle.

Locality: Nemegt, Nemegt Basin, Ömnögov (South Gobi), Mongolia.

Horizon: Nemegt Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Upper Campanian or lower Maastrichtian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: 3 claw phalanges, 1 nearly complete, the other 2 distal ends, metatarsus, and partial ribs.

Referred specimens:

GI No SPS 100/15: Scapula, coracoid, humerus, ulna, radius, metacarpals, 1-3, phalange 2, plus claw.

GI No SPS 100/16: Posterior section of a claw.

GI No. SPS 100/17: Distal end of claw.
