Etymology: Wiehen, for the Wiehengebirge, a chain of hills south of Minden, north-eastern Northrhine-Westphalia State, Germany, where the holotype was found, and Latin, venator, "hunter"; the gender is masculine.

Species: albati RAUHUT, HÜBNER, & LANSER, 2016
Etymology: In honor of Friedrich Albat, who discovered the holotype.

Holotype: WMN (See material for list of elements).

Locality: Former Pott quarry, Lutternsche Egge, near Minden, north-eastern Northrhine-Westphalia State, Germany.

Age: Middle Callovian Stage, Upper Dogger Epoch, Late Middle Jurassic.
