Etymology: Greek, xenos, "strange," and Latin, venator, “hunter”; Strange hunter.

Etymology: In honor of Luis Espinosa, a pioneer in the study of Mexican dinosaurs and mentor to many generations of paleontologists.

Age: Uppermost/latest Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Braincase including frontals, parietals, orbitosphenoids, laterosphenoids, exoccipitals, prootics, basisphenoid and basioccipital.
