Etymology: After the predominantly ellipsoidal shape of the eggs.

Oospecies: khedaensis MOHABEY, 1998
Etymology: In reference to Kheda area of Gujarat, which has yielded numerous dinosaur nesting sites.

Holotype: 149/CRP/96

Locality: Lavariya Muwada, about 1.5 km northwest of the famous Rahioli dinosaur locality, and also south of Kevadiya village in Kheda District, Gujarat State, India.

Horizon: Lameta Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, Upper Senonian Subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: A complete elliptical egg.

Number: Not given: Nests comprise of a single layer of horizontally disposed eggs in shallow depressions. Up to 13 eggs are found in a few nests.
