Etymology: Greek, polyclon-, "numerous small branches"; in refrence to the branched eggshell units, and Greek, oo, "egg" and Greek, lithus, "rock or stone."

Oospecies: yangjiagouensis XIE, ZHANG, JIN, LI, & ZHOU, 2015
Etymology: In reference to Yangjigou, Gansu Province, China; the locality were the fossil egg was found in the Gansu Province.

Holotype: ZMNH M1849

Locality: Yangjagou Town, border region of Lintao and Yongjing counties, Gansu Province, China.

Horizon: Hekou Group

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Cretaceous.

Material: Incomplete and highly fragmented egg.
