Etymology: Latin, stillare, "to drip" in reference to the morphology of the nodes, Latin, tuber, "bump," in reference to the nodes, and Greek, oolithus, "stone egg."

Etymology: In honor of Glenn Storrs of the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History for his mentorship in the field.
