Etymology: Latin, Tri, “ three”, Latin Strangulus, “layered”: In reference to the presence of three structural layers.

Species: cracioides ZELENITSKY, HILLS & CURRIE, 1996
Etymology: In reference to its similarity to modern avian eggshell of the family Cracidae.

Holotype: RTMP 95.17.6

Locality: Knight Ranch, Southern Alberta Province, Canada.

Horizon: Oldman Formation, middle Judith River Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Judithian age, Middle Campanian Stage, Senonian subepoch, Upper Gulf epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Single eggshell fragment.
