Genus: Albertosuchus WU & BRINKMAN, 2015
Etymology: In reference to the Alberta Province, Canada, where the specimen was found,
and Greek, souchus, "crocodile."
Species: knudsenii WU & BRINKMAN, 2015
Etymology: In honour of the Knudsen family, the owners of the land from which
the holotype was collected.
Holotype: RTMP 2002.57.06
Loclaity: South end of the ranch buildings, Knudsen's Ranch, about 2 km west of the Red Deer River, north of Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park, southern Alberta Province, Canada.
Horizon: A few meters above the bottom of the lower part of the Scollard Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Late Maastrichtian Stage, Upper Senonian subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.
Material: Incomplete, crushed skull and mandible, and disarticulated, but assoiated postcranial elements.
