Etymology: In reference to Hengyang, Hunan Province, China, where the specimen was discovered.
Holotype: JGMMV 502
Locality: Kantanyao, Hengyang, Hunan Province, China.
Horizon: Lingcha Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Eocene Epoch, Paleogene Period, Lower Tertiary Subera, Lower Cenozoic Era.
Material: Right maxilla and associated fragment of a left maxilla.
Paratype: Left quadratojugal, 25 cervical, dorsal, sacral, caudal vertebrae and several scutes.
