Etymology: Greek, elos, ‘crazed’, Greek, chera, ‘widowed woman’, gender feminine. The name is derived from the occurrence of this taxon at Crazy Woman Creek, Wyoming.

Etymology: Latin, glossa, ‘tongue’; in reference to the tongue-shaped morphology of the individual scales, noun in apposition.

Locality: Crazy Woman Creek, Phantom Canyon, northe-east of Canon City, Fremont County, Colorado.

Horizon: Harding Sandstone Formation.
